Dan Sicoli
dark fire on 3rd street

moons of the blind child’s fingertips
bay out to a silent sun

when the black blaze of scavenger crows
upstages harley roars and fireworks
she stirs
from her pillow of sable feathers

her slender finger and long nail
like a wand
like a metronome
out her loft window

midgets gather amazed
dogs curl tails under backsides
tattooed women suck tamed smoke
cower in places
only newsboys frequent

overnight
like instinct
coagulated silence returns

in the absence of crows
the pillow is unfulfilled
hollowed from
a head of a woman who now
paces across warm rug and cold tiles
having yet felt the embrace of a man

moons of the child’s fingertips
hunger for solar flares
